Sanctuary Phoenix
Gen 8
A hydraulic-hand teleoperation humanoid; in 2026 its maker shifted to AI software for ordinary industrial arms.
Phoenix is a human-sized upper body with hydraulic hands, mounted on a wheeled base in its eighth generation (the company said customers found legs too fragile). Sanctuary signed a strategic relationship with investor Magna in 2024-04 covering data collection in Magna plants, possible contract manufacturing and a potential purchase, but no deployment numbers have been published. In 2026-06 Sanctuary announced it would deploy its Carbon AI stack on existing industrial arms and reported 99.5% success on a wire-insertion task for an unnamed Tier 1 automotive supplier.
Our verdict
Technically distinctive hands, but the company has itself moved away from selling the humanoid. Treat Phoenix as a platform for Sanctuary's AI and teleoperation work, not as a product.
